The error in measuring the distance to the fault site at high voltage depends on the measurement mode and on the breakdown voltage of the damaged area.

In the case of measuring the distance at high voltage in the modes of `` floating breakdown '', no-load, short-circuit, the error is from +15 to +25 meters at a distance of up to 1 km, and from +20 to +40 meters at a distance of over 1 km. The measurement accuracy depends very much on the accuracy of the shortening factor set in the device. For power cables, this parameter is not standardized. In addition, it is not uncommon for a part of the cable line to be laid with a different type of cable with a different shortening factor.

The OTDR allows continuous operation for 8 hours.

The reflectometer service life is at least 5 years.

High-voltage oscillographic reflectometer "ISKRA-3M" (hereinafter referred to as the device) is designed to determine the distance to the place of damage to communication cables and power supply cables.

The device allows:

  • to detect and determine the distance to the place of damage or inhomogeneity by the location (reflectometric) method on symmetrical and asymmetrical cables;
  • measure the length of cables (including on drums and in coils) or the distance to the point of breakage or short circuit;
  • memorize, store and process measurement results;
  • as part of a mobile electrical laboratory, determine the distance to damage in cables up to 12 km in length for all types of damage without using preliminary complete insulation burnout.

The device allows to save 4 groups of measurements (up to 15 reflectograms in each) in the built-in nonvolatile memory, as well as save them on a computer for further analysis and accounting. (This function is implemented according to the individual requirement of the customer).

The OTDR is intended for indoor use (in particular, in covered vehicles) under the following conditions:

  • ambient temperature range, о С - from minus 10 to +40;
  • relative humidity at a temperature of 25 C - up to 80%;
  • atmospheric pressure, mm. rt. Art. - 650 - 800;
